If you’ve ever had the grave misfortune of being friends with a Dragon Boater, you’ll know what I’m talking about. It’s not a sport. It’s a lifestyle choice. It’s also a dictator of conversation for the entire season. Don’t even try to talk about anything else. Dragon boaters possess an uncanny ability to relate anything unrelated back to Dragon Boating. “Oh your grandmother just died? That reminds me of this one time at paddling practice…”
It must also be noted that the actual act of paddling is in fact quite secondary to the main purpose of the dragon boat team, which is clearly to deplete beverage supplies at beer gardens and participate in team bonding activities that usually involve trading bodily fluids.
